As many of you know, the federal government has already awarded about $15
million to Massachusetts for H1N1 vaccination (PHER I & II).  Berkshire
County has been told we will receive $170,748 under these initial grants.
Most of this money will go directly to supporting vaccination clinics in
Berkshire County and ensuring that the priority groups and general
population are covered efficiently, effectively and fairly, as well as to
support the organizations that have agreed to store and distribute vaccine
centrally.

The federal government has recently announced PHER III, which will award
some $17 million to Massachusetts.  We expect to receive another $150,000 to
$200,000 in Berkshire County from this grant.  DPH must submit their
application for this money by September 15.  A conference call to discuss
the PHER III funding has been scheduled by DPH for Tuesday, September 8,
2009 from 9-10:30.  The conference call line is 866-679-6836 and the
passcode is 3036840.  Anyone is invited to participate in this conference
call.  BCBOHA, as the Berkshire County Emergency Preparedness Coalition will
be listening in, and will provide information about this grant, and the
other PHER money, at our meeting on September 9.  In addition, DPH has asked
us to submit questions about the funding, as well as ideas for spending it,
in advance, so that they can address them on the phone call.  If any of you
have ideas or questions at this point and will not be able to participate in
the conference call, please feel free to send them to me & I will make sure
they are submitted to DPH.

Thanks!  See you all on the 9th!

Laura
