Burning Permits
Burning season in Massachusetts began on January 15. Residents of West Stockbridge can burn brush from January 15 through the end of April, weather permitting. If you want to burn, you must obtain a burn permit from one of the following stores: Public Market, Williams River Country Store or Baldwin's Hardware. There is a $1.00 charge for a burn permit and the permit is only good for the date of issue.
Hours of buring are from 10:00am to 4:00 pm. No one will be issued a burning permit by telephone. If you have any questions about the procedure or have concerns about someone buring, please speak to the Fire Chief directly at 413-232-7853.
