Brush burning season in Massachusetts begins on January 15th.
Residents of West Stockbridge can burn brush (nothing over 4") from January 15th through the end of April, weather permitting.
Beginning January 15th, all burning permits will be available online at no cost. Please go to the Berkshire County website, www.bcburnpermits.com.
Permits are only issued between 8:30 AM and 1:00 PM.
Permits are only issued ON THE DAY that you wish to burn.
No permits are issued IN ADVANCE due to the potential for changing weather conditions.
Burning permits will no longer be available at Baldwin's Hardware or the Public Market. If you want to burn, you must obtain a Burn Permit online and if you do not have access to a computer you may call the Fire Chief at the number below, on the day you would like to burn.
Hours of burning are from 10:00am to 4:00pm and there is no fee.
