Planning Board

The Planning Board is a five-member elected body responsible for overseeing land use and development activity within West Stockbridge. This involves performing a detailed review and analysis of certain development proposals and making decisions based on established regulatory criteria.  Other responsibilities include acting on applications involving the subdivision of land and reviewing potential amendments to zoning regulations, including revision to the Town's zoning map.

The Planning Board oversees long-range planning initiatives, through the preparation and periodic update of the Town's Master Plan and Open Space Recreation Plan. These important documents establish objectives, goals, and strategies for conserving land, promoting balanced and responsible growth, and ensuring an adequate level of community services and facilities.
